This engine was Chrysler's first 60° V6 engine designed and built in house for front wheel drive vehicles, and their first V6 not based on a V8. It was designed as a larger, more powerful option to the Mitsubishi 3.0 V6 in the minivans and debuted in 1989 for the 1990 model year.
Chrysler Dodge Jeep 3.8 liter V6 engines. The 3.8 liter V6 was a conservatively designed, wider bore, longer stroke version of the then new 3.3 liter V6.It was a good, solid engine from the start — not the highest performer or the lowest, but relatively quiet, driveable, and reliable.

Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth 3.3 Liter V 6 Engines. large sections by Michael A. Cole. First used in a wide range of 1990 cars, the 3.3 was the first “clean sheet” Chrysler designed V6 engine, destined to become a workhorse for minivans — and, oddly, the basis of 255 horsepower Shelby Can Am cars.
I have an'02 Grand Caravan with the 3.8, 59k. Absolutely no problems. 20 mpg in mixed driving, 24.5 straight highway. Lots of power, zero oil usage, smooth idle. If you buy an extended lenght minivan for fuel mileage you need your head examined. According to Car and Driver Chrysler still builds the best minivan.
V6 3.5L with 127xxx miles for sale good conditions. No check engine lights no leaks passed e test in hand. I have 22″ rims with good tire that will go with it if we come to and agreement on price or can work another price just for the car
I show how to take out and replace an alternator on a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country. The 3 bolts to remove this are 15 mm.
